Took out my new to me Samurai this morning for some adventures here in Kodiak. Started out of town at 4:30 am, just as it was getting light. I just put on a set of 235/75/15's that I wanted to try. It just happens to be the first day of deer season so I brought along the long range rig. Here was the view at Fossil beach. 40 degrees and liquid sunshine.
Free range bison, horses, and cows everywhere but no deer. A lone fox on the hillside but too far to photo. I travelled on a little ways and spotted a pair of deer on another ridge. They happened to be both does, off limits in this area. I did get excited and set up for them though.
I got out of there and headed down an old WWII Army road that has seen better days, now completely washed out and full of mud holes. Unfortunately, it was too deep to stop to get a picture. The all terrain tires performed significantly better than the stock road tires that it came with. I decided to work my way back towards town and discovered there were quite a few road hunters out so I just enjoyed the drive. Thought I'd share my day and the scenery.
