Gonzookin 2011 Itinerary (please read!) Rausch Creek ORV
« on: July 31, 2011, 06:53:36 AM »
I know this is a bit late but here is an itinerary for the event:

Registration will be on going. Everyone attending the event must check in with Stacy or Cindy |removethispart|@ Twin Grove Campground. Look for the bright orange staff shirts. If you cannot meet up with them on Thursday or Friday don't sweat it. They will be available during the dinner/raffle and will be doing registration then as well.

Thursday
People will start to arrive at the campground. No scheduled events

Friday
9:00am-dusk
open wheeling. try to be at the park by 9am and ready to hit the trails by 9:30.
there will be no specific trail leaders. all you need is a group of 2 rigs and off you go.
we recommend not letting groups get bigger then 5 or 6 rigs as trail progress tends to get slow.
(people will also be arriving this day)

Saturday

9:00am-??
I would make sure your at the park by 9am and get registered
10:00am - ??
Top Zook Challange - This will be held in the comp area just behind the office. Look for an orange gonzookin staff shirt. We
will be doing something different this year. There is no differentiation in rigs. All rigs will compete in the same class. The
course will be much easier so that even a stocker can compete without fear of breaking, damage, or roll over. However
there will be one evil twist. The course will be done with a spotter and must be done BLINDFOLDED.

The scoring will be simple. The quickest to the end wins. Every cone hit will be a point. THAT'S IT!!!. Object is quickest
time with no points. If you don't have a spotter don't sweat it. There is always a willing participant in the crowd.

This event will run until everyone that wants to run does so. If i don't have anyone waiting I will pack up by 12:00am
                                       and hit the trails.
10:00am-??
If you are not going to compete in the TZC then find a group....hit the trails...and enjoy the best commercial offroad park on the east coast.

5:30pm - 11:00pm???
Group Dinner followed directly by the Raffle
This will be an all you can eat dinner. Typically burgers and hot dogs as well as sausage and peppers. various chips and fresh fruit. If you
have never attended gonzookin before you will be pleasantly surprised. The food is ALWAYS good and everyone gets their fill. Your event fee
goes to pay for this directly and the staff do not get paid so we make sure everyone eats well. This will be held in one of the pavilions at
Twin Grove campground. If you decided to camp at Rausch Creek you are still more then welcome to come attend the dinner/raffle.

The raffle is typically run like a Chinese auction similar to zuwharrie. The items are placed out on display and a cup is placed in front of each
item. you place one half of your ticket in the cup of the item you want to win. You will receive 3 tickets with your registration and will be given
a chance to purchase more before the drawing. Once all the tickets are placed in the cups then they will be drawn one by one by dumping
the stubs into a box or bucket and any children in attendance will be called up and asked to draw a ticket one at a time.

We will also be doing a 50/50 drawing. For those that are not familiar is you buy tickets and all the proceeds are going into a pot. When the
drawing is done the winner will get half the proceeds the other half goes directly to the event.

5:30pm-??
Show 'n Shine
Just as it states. We would like everyone to bring their rigs (trail rigs ok but make sure they are unloaded) to the group dinner. We will stage
them in the grass field near the pavilion for a group photo. We ask that you place a note on the windshield or dash that states who owns
the vehicle, what it is, and distance traveled. Staff will line up as well but is not eligible to be judged. Staff vehicles will be marked as such.
There will be a number of categories judged so don't be discouraged if your rig is a beat up pile of rust. The judges will be chosen at random
on Saturday. They may be attendees to our event they may simply other campers in the campground who knows. The scores will be tallied
during the dinner/raffle and the winners will receive a gonzookin t-shirt. The catagories will be available when you register for the event.
Since the group photo will be taken at this time we urge everyone to show up with their rig.

Those with trailer queens, please be respectful of the campground. Use low range and keep your speeds down as well as exhaust noise to a
     minimum.

Sunday
Typically a clean up and go home day. Some guys will head to Rausch Creek for one last day of wheeling.

Also keep in mind that there is usually a group camp fire every night held in Group Camp. (see other thread for camping arrangements and details). All are welcome. Adult beverages are allowed but are subject to the campground rules. You act sensible and you wont have any issues. We pride ourselves with having a good reputation with the campground and our staff will do whats necessary to keep it that way.

Make sure all trash is cleaned up and put in the proper place when you leave. Obey all the traffic rules of the campground, and try to keep noise at night to a minimum.

Trailers WILL be allowed in the group camp area. Please be respectful and try to not tear up the grass. Don't go trailblazing into areas you shouldn't be driving into. Those with cabins and RV sites, the campground will direct you to where to park trailers.

As always any questions don't hesitate to ask. we would rather answer a question then see you get in trouble for something.

We hope you enjoy the event!
