Windrock Mtn Run - vids added
« on: July 01, 2008, 10:00:54 AM »
Here's a few pics and link to the rest, from our ride at Windrock Mtn last weekend.  What a great time we had!  We had a fantastic guide, Papasmurf, who lead us through trails we didn't think we could do but did them anyway!  Wheelin' with Bentparts & Rita gets better every time!  He has such a sweet rig that drives as good as it looks!!!

Zukipilot, I was hoping you and Gary would show up after all.  Would have offered up my spare seat but I reserve it for when Duane breaks his Sami!  We rode on Saturday and Sunday.  All day hard on Saturday then took it easy on Sunday with just the three Zuks riding.  Lots of rain the night before and crazy thick fog kept us close to the gravel roads on Sunday.  Duane still managed to lose a rear drive shaft ujoint and rear brakes!!!

I bet that was a fun ride out of those hillls. I started to come up on Saturday to hang out and see if I could find you'll. but after a very interesting night Friday night, I decided to stay home and rest up for Saturday night  >:D

We will definately need to do some wheeling when I get my ride back.

Sounds like you had a good time anyway, Zuikipilot!  When you expecting to get yours back?  Just say when your ready and we will try to be there.  I want to wheel as much as I can while gas is still cheap!!!

;D 8) Hey LilRed, this was by far one of the best wheeling experiences I've ever had. Rita and I are amazed every time we go out with you and Duane, and always have a GREAT Time! You two are a blast to hang out with, and Duane is a wheelin' GOD when it comes to putting his Sammy where he wants it, WITHOUT lockers or low range gears! Makes me look pretty silly all locked up! We barley scratched the surface of the trails at Windrock, and we WILL be coming back to explore some more of them. I have to mention Papa Smurph, what a blast we had following him up some of those " Easy " trails, that we later found out were rated " difficult, or in the case of trail #21 " extreme." Gotta tell ya Papa, we would have never tried them if you didn't lead us to 'em. I now know the ability's of my Tracker are far beyond what I envisioned. It was also fun to drive the almost 700 miles one way, wheel the crap out of it, and drive it back home, all without incedent, other than a tiny ding in one rim. These Suzuki's are AMAZING! We'll be posting up some pics as soon as Rita get's around to uploading them. Great time was had by all! And LilRed, Great pics, and a hellofa driving job by you!

LilRed,
How colse are you to Natural Bridge State Park? can people still go wheeling there (or atleast the adjoining property)? I wne there back inthe 90's, had a blast and have not been back...for some unknown reason   :-\  oops, sorry abouthe therad hijack  :P

We are hoping to have the final design worked out soon and begin the build. From that point it wont take too long. The thing being, I am thinking about doing a couple of wheeling trips out West before I ship it back to TN  :-\ ... So I may not have it back here till Fall  :-\

Zig,
Yes, folks still wheel at Natural Bridge / Slade area, though they have started closing trails down from what I hear.  Its only a couple of hours from me I guess but we've never wheeled there.  From the pics, it looks like it would be awesome and I've been wanting to check it out.  Are you still going to be street legal after the build?

Papasmurf is trying to get his club to plan their next trip for Sept. or Oct.  Sounds like that may work for when you get your rig back!!  I'll post up what I hear from him.

Probably not, but I am going to attempt to tag it and see what happens. Between now and when I get it back, I am going to research to see what I will need to do to make it legal.

Great pics guys...really sorry about standing ya'll up. I avoided the flooded rivers back east only to stay home and watch California burn up. The fires are all around me but  not close to my house...just lots of smoke. Glad you all had a great time.

Fires, earthquakes, and super high property costs. What's the attraction? Oh, yeah, I forgot, mountains, deserts, oceans, and a high concentration of trick builders. I guess it's worth it or you wouldn't stay. Good luck and stay safe Gary.

Got some video clips!!  Good thing I'm better at driving than videoing!!  Well, maybe that's debatable.
