Title: BFG AT vs General Tire Grabber AT2...
Post by: johnhenry on May 15, 2008, 10:54:24 AM
Hello,
I have a 1995 Suzuki Sidekick JX, 5 speed, 4 doors, and Stock... Right now I have Daytona Radials with not much tread left, Maybe a couple thousand miles left...
I am interested in getting new tires for my car and I also wanted to know if any of you guys have these two tires or what your thoughts might be.

I have been running the General Grabbers for about two years now.
Pros:
1. They are almost identical to BFG, except I think the AT2s have a little more spacing between the tread lugs.
2. Good for street driving and offroad, air down and handle rock abuse very wheel.
3. The tread is sipped so they work well on snow/ice and have lots of grip
4. Much cheaper than BFG

Let me just start off by saying I have not run either tire, but the Generals have better reviews on Tirerack, than the BFG's and they are cheaper. I say go for the generals, my friend has some generals on his 240sx and they are nice. I would say Generals and Kumho's in general are very very good for the price.

I found a place that would cost $440 including tax:

(4) 225/70/15 General Tire Grabber AT2
Removal
installation
valve stem
recycling
alignment

Does this sound like a good deal? I dont have any idea on how to install tires, but it sounds like a good price...

I just got the General Tire Grabber AT2's mounted on my rig.

When I drove it out of the parking lot, I noticed a huge improvement. I never even thought how much tires would have improved the ride... Smooth.

I was told that I would hear some road noises from the tires at highway speed, which i thought would be kinda cool, but they are super quite.

I would refer these to anybody that wants the look and ride of BFG AT, but at a lower price.

Thanks for all the help.
