Lift Kit
« on: November 06, 2017, 03:18:28 AM »
Hi guys! I need some advice. I would like to add an extra 4-inch of ground clearance on my I own a 2008 Suzuki XL-7 Luxury. What brand of suspension lift kit should I go for?

I would try calling Rocky Road Outfitters and seeing if they can give you a little more info on this:

It says, "also fits XL7"... I think in the 10 years since the "new" XL7 came out you are probably the first person I have ever run across inquiring about a lift kit. Probably because it would be about as much use as putting a lift kit on a Dodge Caravan with AWD, But hey, to each their own. Post some pics if you figure something out.

Can you elaborate on that comment?  I thought the xl7 was similar in construction to other models in the range?

An 08 XL7 (the new XL7) is a GM design - it's your typical unibody construction, transverse engined FWD "cross-over SUV" although it was offered with an AWD option - the only resemblance to anything Suzuki is the badge on the grille.

The previous generation of XL-7 (note the hyphen) sold in the US from 01~06 was essentially a stretched Grand Vitara, with the body on frame construction and the two speed transfer case part time 4WD that Suzuki has used on their SUVs since the start of time.

Ah got it.  Funny how something can sound so specific, like XL7 and yet be totally just a marketing label having nothing specific about it at all.
