Oil Filter
« on: September 03, 2005, 12:49:50 PM »
So, this weekend is when I change oil in all the vehicles ...

I go to napa and get 2 oil filters for the zuks (the 2dr and 4dr are the same), and one for my wifes PT turbo (as well as the chevy tow rig) ...

Parts guy mentions the only difference between the zuks and PT is the PT takes a larger filter. I immediately grab that one, go out to the zuk, look and sure nuff, the zuks can fit that larger filter, so I got 3 of the big ones instead. The parts guy went ahead and looked up the specs, and the thread and mount ring are identical, just one has twice the capacity ...

So, napa "gold" filter 1348 is what was called for, but a napa "gold" filter 1516 works perfectly ... (I got the zuks done now, PT and the chevy next) ...

I dunno if AC would cause a problem fitting the larger filter, but I see NO downside and only plusses to running the biggest oil filter you can!

Hope this info is helpful to folks ...

Also, if your not doing napa ... ask for a filter for a '03 PT *turbo* cruiser ... the non-turbos take a different filter (I think the smaller one)

More surface area for filtering = cleaner oil = happy motor ;)
