On a lighter note....
« on: October 18, 2016, 08:59:47 AM »
Seeing that most of the posts are about repairs, I just wanted to take a moment to praise my Sidekick.  This past summer I finally purchased what had for a long time been my dream car.  A Honda S2000 roadster.  While I do really like the S2000, I believe my Sidekick makes me happier for about 1/8th the cost..lol.  I live in a rural state with lots of places to explore, winding roads that are great for the S2000 but not so great when you want to delve deeper into the B roads.  You see, I like to go out and search for new rural routes to familiar places. That's why I still find myself taking the Kick more often than not, and it puts just as big a smile on my face.  With the 3" altered ego lift and 30" mud tires, the handling is actually quite good, making for a fun drive on two lane roads as well as offroad.
It makes me sad that nothing like this is still being made.  If there was such thing as a 2010 or newer Sidekick (or if the Jimny was available here) I swear I would trade my S2000 for it.
How do you guys feel about you Track/Kicks vs other vehicles you've owned?

Yes, I've said several times that even after 9 years of owning THIS particular Tracker (which is longer than I have ever owned any one particular vehicle) , I still enjoy driving him a lot.  Reliability....?   He has 214K miles on him right now.  In 9 years of owning him and driving him over 120K miles Buster has never left me stranded anywhere or failed to start.   Even when my Lock Right failed (because of me installing the pins in the wrong holes)  I could still shift him into 4WD and the front axle drove me home.  Even with the front axle, I really couldn't even tell my rear axle wasn't pulling.

I really like my Rubicon, but I will always have a soft place in my heart for my Tracker.  He's been a great truck and the mods I have done to him over the years just makes him that much more special.  Great little trucks!

Nice to hear from you all.  My Sidekick was bought new by my stepfather and handed down to me in stock form about 12 years ago.  It now has 193k miles and still runs strong despite the offroading I've put it through.  Most of the repairs in the last few years have been my fault due to rough offroading but other than that its been very reliable and I'll drive it till the wheels fall off...then I'll probably put them back on and keep going.

I loved driving the Tracker around.  I had a sway bar on the rear to stiffen up the suspension, made it fun to whip around on tight roads.

Once we get it going again I'll probably enjoy cruising with the top down again.
