Roll Bar/Rear Cage
« on: September 01, 2005, 06:26:11 AM »
Does anyone make a roll bar or rear cage for a 92 sidekick 2dr? I'm just looking for something to protect rear passengers more than the nothing that's there now. Or is it something I should get made locally?

Thats for the front passangers not the rear.

I made one myself, not sure if there's anyone out there making one for the rear.

Check around your area to find out where the Stock Car guys are getting their cages made.

Those guys know what it means to get hit and usually know where or who makes the best cages at the best price.

I think when all said and done, you're better off finding someone/someplace to build you a cage. The calmini cage costs enuf (especially when you factor shipping), that you can probably just get a custom built up for about the same (and get what *you* want!)
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.

I was looking at YJ rear rollbars today at the junkyard and was wondering how hard it would be to modify one to fit the rear of my Tracker...
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

If anyone has any pictures of something in their kick that resembles a YJ roll bar, could you please post some pics, I found someone that can do it, and just want to get a few ideas now. Something like this I guess, but in a kick.

Mike Hagan has what looks like a pretty cool cage in his orange tracker. I could see some of it in the pics of the Ultimate Adventure last year.

The one I made looks just like the YJ's.  I mounted steel plates on the inside that stradel the body mount behind the front seats, with steel plates under neith the floor for support.  Then I built the roll bar to follow the inside of the tracker and that the bar just touched the rag top.

Then I cut two holes in the floor in the rear of the truck just in front of the tail gate just over frame.  Then I bent the rear bars to follow the top, rear window, throught the floor and welded it to the frame.  To seal up the holes around the rear bars I silicond the bars to the floor.

So now on a roll over, the front is supported by the body mounts and the rear is tied directly to the frame.

I did leave just enouf room so that I could put padding on the bars.

I'll try to get pictures tomarrow.
