Wheel arch fitments
« on: September 01, 2005, 10:50:04 AM »
hey there, any of you who have read my other threads will know that i am trying to swap the axles from a 1992 samurai sport, into my older, (yet much better!!!) sj413..... anyways, due to rules and regulations tyres must not stick out of arches by however many millimetres..... so, i have taken the arches of the sami...... i was just wondering if anyone knows where i could get hold of/ or if some one has some which they would sell the little pastic rivets that hold the wheel arches onto the body??

once again.... many thanks!

Andy:

You should be able to find those plastic fasteners at your local auto parts store.

They may also have them at your local auto-body shop or (shudder) the Suzuki dealer. I bought a box to reattach the plastic liner on a Tracker, but I can't specifically remember where I got them!  Sorry.

Alternatively, you can re-install them using long aluminum pop rivets with fender washers.

I'd suggest the pop rivet approach ... easy to remove when needed (just drill em out), and cheap. The plastic and half metal screw half plastic fasteners are always a pain to remove when needed (and expensive to replace if they get busted).
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.
