Title: 1991JDM Jimny gearing
Post by: AW1Phillips on June 12, 2017, 05:49:50 PM
Hello, I picked up a 1991 Jimny straight out of Japan. From what I can tell its exactly the same as a  samurai other than the right-hand drive and the turbo three Cylinder motor (660cc). Since the motor is OEM and fairly rare I would like to keep it that way,  but I would like to move down the road a little better.  As of now with 28 inch mud tires I cruise at 4000 RPM at 50 Mph.  Does that RPM range sound about correct? To even make it  in the slow lane on Sunday California I need to be cruising around 60 and a little lower RPM range I believe.  Or do these small motors like to rev hi?  Does anybody have any gearing advice or common knowledge to pass?

Thanks Jeremy
