vibration at 60+
« on: November 16, 2015, 03:11:20 PM »
ok, so I went wheeling in Ocatillo wells, broke my drivers side t-case mount. put a bolt with washers as a temp fix till I get new ones. I expected more vibration but at 60+ it gets worse than regular cruising. If I put my t-case in N and shift through all the gears with engine on I get nothing except 4th and 5th there is a vibration. I'm thinking U-joints on the intermediate shaft or a possible bearing. Thoughts?

I would look at those first, then the u-joints in the rear driveshaft.

For the t-case mount did you add a spacer in the middle to keep the t-case sitting at the correct angles?

yes, I matched it up with the old mount to get the same height out of it.

Some of the 'unbreakable' t-case mounts are just some rubber bushings with a bolt through them.  I ran those for years without issues, never broke a mount.  I did break a t-case...

Were you able to check for any slop in the u-joints?

yes, no play in the u-joints, but when i lift the rear end off the ground and put it in drive the t-case makes some bad noises. I think it might be done...

Small issues are always a pain.  Might be something a simple as loosing a tire weight as well.
