wire to power steering pump?
« on: July 19, 2005, 02:27:51 PM »
OK while doing my bodylift on the weekend I saw a wire hanging loose by the power steering pump. There is a terminal on the pump which looks like it is supposed to be attached to(if the plug was not busted)

What would this be for? Sensor to tell if the system is empty?

I have a yellow wire hooked to mine, it's for raising up your idle when there is pressure in the pump, there is also another one for your ac. ( even if you don't have ac. it's there.) hope that helps. solder works great.

as long as your f.i. is in closed loop your engine will adjust if working properly, maybe the wire helps it react faster or maybe takes it to 1k on idle? it's there for a reason.

I have that on mine too. It didn't seem to make any difference hooked up or not. When I had the ECU apart I noticed that there were no components fitted on that circuit.

Mine has been unhooked for about 7 years now and I always wondered what it was for, never could find a matching end that was empty.  On the other hand It has never been hard to turn either.  I don't have AC, so where should this yellow wire be coming from if I were looking.  Haven't needed it so far, but couldnt' hurt to try it.

There should be pressure sensor on top of the power steering pump. Too dark to take a pic now.

Misunderstood. On mine it goes up under the headlight. The wire is covered with an outer sleeve (heatproofing?) so it doesn't look very yellow.
