1 1/2inch spacers compatible with Calmini 3-inch suspension?
« on: September 24, 2005, 02:33:07 AM »
I have a '95 sidekick with a Calmini 3-inch suspension and 30x9.5 BFGs.  I'm contemplating on installing 1 1/2inch spacers from Digger.  Would this be compatible with my existing setup? Or would this give me camber and CV joint problems?  By the way, I'm using camber bolts.  If 1 1/2 inch spacers are too much, how about 1 inch?  Looking forward to your inputs. Thanks!

I don't really know since no one has done this yet(at least to my knowledge). The Calmini 3" kit lowers the front diff about 2". lots of people run the RRO/OME 2.5" lift and that doesn't lower the diff at all, it combines 1" spacers with 1-1/2" lift springs. Since the Calmini kit only increases the angle of the cv's by 1 inch(3" of lift minus the 2" diff drop), I would think it would work for a daily driver/mall crawler, but the 1-1/2" spacers actually provide just over 2" of front lift by themselves, so I don't know if I would want to run them offroad much... The end result would be just over 3" of lift difference between the wheels and the diff or just over 5" of total suspension lift up front... I don't think I would run this setup myself, but I'm also pretty hard on my trucks. I would have to maybe suggest a set of the 1" spacers. They would give you close to 1-1/2" of additional front lift, for a total lift difference of around 2.5", which is the same amount of lift difference in the RRO/OME kit. Plus you'd be able to say you have 4.5" of suspension lift! :o

What maxed out? the struts or the cv's or both? Just curious so I can have better info for prospective customers! LOL! ;D

Don't do it, Calmini built their kit to be
the most and as reliable as it can be
