3" calmini lift
« on: December 03, 2011, 08:46:10 AM »
Just finished my lift, tires and rims all to calmini specs. CV joints making noise when the wheels are turned all the way to the left and right. The camber is still not correct. Any ideas or solution.

Yes, everything is exactly as they recommend including wheel back space and tire size.

Figured it out. It seams my helper can't tell the difference between cv joint noise and the tires rubbing on the front plastic fenders.

What is their " wheel back space and tire size" recommendation?

On the 3" suspension lift kit the wheel back space is 3.00" to 3.25" and the tire size  is 30" x 9.5". I put the tires on 15 x 8 rims. I am wondering if the springs will settle and the camber will be correct. The alignment shop is recommending camber bolts that replace the top bold in the strut. He thinks that will get the proper adjustment. I do not have any experience with these so any advice would be great. I don't have a steel bumper or winch that puts enough weight on the springs to achieve the proper camber per the Calmini instructions and do not want to take it apart and cut down the springs (Calmini solution). The kit went on great and seems to be very solid.

I have been running camber bolts in my Tracker for a couple years.  Don't cut your springs down, run them for a while and see if they settle more.

Trust me, those coils will settle in a while. Try and get some off road time on them, the more bumpy the better. You don't have to bash them, just get them coils working like a long set of woops would do. Then get your alignment shop to install the camber bolts.

I don't intend to turn this into a rock crawler but would like to have more flexibility in where I can go. Would limited slip differentials effect the ability to tow it behind a motorhome and would I need stronger axles.

Maybe you need to pay her more ;D
