What did you do to your Sidekick today?
« on: September 20, 2016, 08:38:14 PM »
I have seen similar threads on other forums.  I enjoy reading what other people do to their rides.  I try to do something to my ride each weekend.  It may only be a 15 minute project, but those projects add up over time.

I pulled out my Lincoln shocks and installed the Deutsche shocks I bought from Boxcar a while back.

I intended to replace all of my sway bar bushings, but the larger bushings that came in were the wrong shape.  I had already pulled the brackets, so I cleaned and painted them.

This was actually from yesterday.  I have several other small projects I will post also

Take a close look at those bolts - notice the worn threads?  Water gets into the threads from the top and corrodes them - the captive nuts are probably stripped - the easiest way to fix it is to helicoil them.

Foredom - Thanks.  I will pull it back out and check them.  It was late and I should have had more light. They have never seize on them now.  I use it a lot.

Ordered a new crank bolt so hopefully I can get the Teal Terror running again! Genuine Suzuki part; the Mitsu dealer here still sells 'em.

This was all done yesterday
Replaced the stock 2dr front disk with rotors, pads and calipers from a 4dr model, I have a soft pedal so I will try bleeding them again this evening when I get home from work
Replaced some of the wires that had shorted out with new wires with the same color and trace on them,  I had temporarily replaced and rerouted the wires when I found the short with solid color wire but wanted to go back to same color codes.  I ordered the wire from 4RCustoms.  I was able to get the same color and trace on the wire in 18ga so I spent sometime yesterday soldering and heat shrinking the wires together.  I am still waiting on one more color to come in and that job should be ready to wrap up.

Hwyman - How are the new brakes and wiring repairs?

Trusuv - That looks like a fun trip.  I haven't been out there since '90.  I was in 29 Palms after that.

Well where to start? Friday afternoon wife and I headed back home from riding with our 1996 Suzuki sidekick 1.8L 5 speed just as we got to the drive way my Suzuki sidekick started to spit and sputter? Got to the garage and changed plugs and wire boots and still did the same thing. So I got out my OBD2 reader the code came up as 135 and 301 and 330 along with 118 not sure why? So I did a few changes and still the same the thing and now the only thing that comes up is code 301 misfire #1. I happened to start my Suzuki on a cold start and she ran fine until it warmed up on normal temp and then she started to spit and sputter. Why? I changed my coil packs and plugs and O2 sensor and still same thing any idea on what next?

RSS - Maybe it's the connection from the coil to the plug? When 8t starts to misfire, disconnect one plug at a time to see which one is failing.
