Only a Month away! - The Fall Classic - Many geologic features to see ending at Christmas Valley. A huge very unpopulated recreational dunes area. Possible spelunking, exploration of runes, plus lots of sand-spitting, axle-twisting, throttling action as we traverse the wide open and dramatic dunes in Christmas Valley. This will be a 'Base Camp' type adventure.

LaPine, OR.,  Ft. Rock, Crack in the Ground, and Christmas Valley. - 3 Day Adventure

Adventure Series - The philosophy of this Adventure Series 2008 is to see some "neat" things. There will most likely be some difficult situations, terrain, obstacles, and environment, that we encounter. First and foremost, the ZUKIWORLD adventurer should be prepared and have a good attitude. If your looking for catered meals and 5 star hotels, you will be disappointed. During most of these adventures, we will be camping on the trail, cooking over a fire, and will no doubtedly be dusty and dirty. If this sounds fun to you, sign up now!

Wagon train vs. Base camp ? - The Adventure series consist of two basic types of adventures. The 'Wagon Train' adventure is one where the participants carry everything needed with them on the vehicle. Think of this as a 'safari' adventure where you may or may not end up close to where you started. 'Base Camp' adventures are ones where a base will be set and day trips are taken from that location. These are best for the 'Motor Home' or 'Tow Rig' crowd as they usually involved Hotels or improved campgrounds.

General Itinerary - Fall Classic
Friday 14th, Meet either in Salem 0800hrs or Lapine 1300hrs, Head out to Base Camp
Saturday 15th, explore, wheel, GPS geocachin', Group Potluck (Bring something to share)
Sunday 16th, explore / wheel on the way back to Bend, Salem 1700hrs.

There are TWO things you should do if you want to go on this adventure. First, use the poll feature to mark attendance and second send an email to ebewley|removethispart|@zukiworld.com SUBJECT:Fall Classic. Send us which place you are wanting to hook-up and a cell phone that you'll be carrying (if). We'll send you more detailed meeting instructions.

Hope to see you there. -Eric

I've done it with a co-pilot and without and both ways are a blast in their own way. You dont get bored with these guys on the trail.

Question:

the wife and i are planning on going. Is there going to be a base camp??? If so i would like to bring my tent trailer if its safe enough to hull up the dirt roads to camp. please let me know
thanks
scott

Yeah, I've got this question a couple of times and unfortunately I don't have a good answer and here's why. First, I do know where we are going to TRY and camp. BUT it is the closing weekend of hunting season there and it's very possible that the place we want to go to will be used. In that case, I have two backups in mind but there are varying amounts of terrain to cover and just added variables that make a yes / no answer very difficult. Second, eventhough this is a 'base camp' type adventure and we'll be staying Friday and Saturday night in the same place. We will be 'adventuring' as a group quite aways into camp and will be 'adventuring' all day Sunday away from camp. SO, one would miss quite a bit of the experience if they don't "hang" with the group.

My suggestion is to have everything you need to be happy in your wheeling vehicle and be prepared to ruff it.

We are bringing a large canvas tent with a woodstove to sleep in. We plan on camping with the group Friday and Saturday night. Sunday we will trail run with the group as well but then head back to base camp when those who are going home head home. We will spend the night at base camp and then head back to the valley on Monday. If anyone else is taking Monday of and wants to do the same thing as us that would be great. Usually when we have gone to Central Or to wheel we would leave the house we stayed at around 9 am and get back around 11 pm. We would travel back at dark and have a GPS so we are comfortable doing so. We are bringing a fair amount of camping equipment and cookware as well as chainsaws and splitting mauls. We will have a cook stove and small BBQ that everyone can use. I people don't have room for cook stoves or a BBQ don't sweat it. We are generous with our equipment. If anyone has any questions or thoughts let me know. We have 4 people staying in the tent on cots with a huge stove so it is alittle tight. We will help out any way we can with other stuff.
Thanks,
Brent
