Moab Zu west, 3-19 June, 05

Yep!! You heard right. We are going to MOAB!!!!!

Who: Anyone who can go
What: Do I need to explain?
When: 3-19 June (well sort of)
Where: Wheelers paradise......... MOAB UTAH! Slickrock Campground.
Why: Because EVERYONE should

Day 1 June 3rd  east coast to Evansville Indiana area 775 miles 12 hrs

Day 2 June 4th Evansville to Burlington CO area   850 miles 14 hrs

Day 3 June 5th  Burlington CO to Moab Utah 520 miles 8 hrs .

All times and mileages are pulled from Mapquest . I am trying to break up the drive so we aren't too beat when we roll in . I don't have rooms yet for the drive out ... I am working on it though .

We are in cabins 3-6 at the SlickRock campground . http://www.slickrockcampground.com/

The rate is 34.88 for two people and there are 2 beds per cabin . The only thing you need to provide is towels . All other linens are provided by them . There are BBQ pits out front too  ;D steak is good

If you want to tent camp they have regular sites for 19.62 per night .

To make a reservation for a tent site click on their site and either make the reservation on-line or you can call them and make it direct . Ask for Matthew and reference Zu West as the event .

So far this is who has said yes to the Zuwharrie Road Show ;D

George Hicks & Family (Tusker) CA, Cabin 3
Greg Beasley (Sammi_Davis) VA, Cabin 4
Wookie Beasley ;D VA, Cabin 4
Art Lilley (NC Zuk) NC, Cabin 5
Jim Ferguson (POWERSTROKEN) MD, Cabin 5
Jim Mercer (zukEmt) AZ, Cabin 6
Chris Mercer (zukimom) AZ, Cabin 6
Wayne Israelsen (zukizzy) CA
Derek Schwab (Dschwab9) GA
Chip ?? ?? ?? (Redzuki) MO
James ?? ?? ?? (James|removethispart|@Shortyrail) UT

The trail list is sorta done minus the groups decision on what to run .

6 June  fins and things and Porcupine rim in the Sand flats rec area . This is a great place to get used to the type of wheeling in Moab

7 June Flat Iron Mesa . Great trail with only 1 shelf section which is bypassable . Lots of fun and lots of crawling .We can run this twice or go across the street and run strike ravine afterwards ... BTW Strike ravine leads to a little trail called upper helldorado .

8 June Rose Garden Hill .. And Top of the world .Its not a walk in the park .

9 June Steel Bender ...Bring food its a long trail .

10 June Metal Masher /Gemini Bridges Fun trail with lots of playgrounds ... not for the vertigo challenged .

11 June Poison Spider Mesa/Golden Spike/Gold Bar Rim and Gemini bridges . 35 miles of wheeling .. and it has a few obstacles

12 June Hells Revenge fun fun fun ... lot of steep domes and slickrock

13 June Kane Creek ...ledges shelfs and waterfalls . I snapped a leaf spring here .

14 June Behind the Rocks .... I havent ran it and it is considered one of the 2 hardest trails in Moab

15 June Pritchett Canyon . I havent ran this either ... its sick and has lots of carnage . Almost a guranteed flop in every group .

And on the short days we can go to Tater Salad and watch the show ! There is some good wheeling around Tater too .

None of this is set in stone , just kind of throwing this out there . I guess I need to make a wish list of trails to be run  in a new post . I have run all the trails above but the last 2 ....

Can anyone help me on this one? I seen a sammi on the zuki web site, the owner is: Cecilia Putman. It has an exo-rollbar around the sammi. I AM LOOKING for it! How can I get one? They have nothing here in Hawaii! Your help is greatly appreciated!!  Mahalo, John ??? ???
