That's at 7-9 thousand feet. Get down on the flats between the western slope and the canyonlands, then add 25 degrees. But yeah, that is Puuuurfect !

Heres a few pics of CB/Gunnison area.....

Emerald Lake above Crested Butte

The picture doesn't do it justice, the water in this lake is emerald green.
Going up to Crested Butte from Gunnison.

I had some while we were wheeling down by Blue Mesa Res. (by Gunnison) They are around an old quarry/powerline road, but can't seem to find them right now. Lots of places to see around the area though.

Thinking about adding a week in front of the one we've commited to. Would people be interested in that?

I'm planning on taking around 2 weeks off work... Two days + to get out there, 5-6 days there, 3ish days to get back (taking the long way home (depending on temps, I may go to Galveston for a day or to via Albuquerque to see some friends  8) >:D 8). So I will have a few extra days to hang out there... If the NM/TX temps are crazy I'm NOT going that way with no AC  :P

Where's everybody staying?  Are they camping or staying at a motel?
35 years of Samurai ownership, and I still have my very first one. :)

We're camping most of the time. See first post in thread...

Hi Guys,

OK, this one I think I can make.  Denver is only about 500 miles from my house, so add another couple hundered and it is doable in one day.  I will have to run it past the boss, but she may love the idea of getting rid of me for a week.

I have a mildly built 2011 GV 4x4; bigger tires and a lift.  It has about 11" of air between the center of the truck and the ground.  How much damage do you think I will get with the trails we are going on?

In vehicle communication?  What will everyone have and use on the trip.  I do not have a CB, but I do have 4 of the upper end Motorola GRMS/FRS radios.

I have a bunch of new camping equiptment so this would be a great time to try it out.

If anyone is traveling from the East on I80 and needs a stop over point for the trip, I could accomidate at my residence.  Trust me, camping in Nebraska in August is not a good idea.  The humidity and bugs will suck the life right out of you.

Hi Rob - I think your GV will do fine. Remember this is adventure wheeling, not necessarily obsticle wheeling, so you can go around if things get to dicey. I'll have a CB, GRMS/FRS 2-way, and cell phone in the Equator.

Shall I put your name on the list then?

Hi,

I'm working on the permision part with the wife.  These types of  of requests I always get a bit worried about as you never know what the outcome will be.

I agree that the trails should be fine in my GV.  I looked up the trails on Traildamage.com and they look like they are do-able but may offer me some chalanges.  I have never had this vehicle offroad yet.  I spent some time growing up in Moab, so I am accustom to wheeling but in much different vehicles.

Don't add my name yet but you can be me down for a strong maybe at this point.  I will know more after this weekend.

Thanks,

Rob

:(  Looks like I'm not gonna make this one, the wife can't get time off until October. We've discussed making a trip out to the Canyonlands/Moab area in October, at least the weather will be nice.
