1996 Tracker with Rockmonster Gears SOLD
« on: March 23, 2011, 08:36:32 PM »
SOLD!!!!!
just about to install Trail Tough's Trail Slayer link suspension on my 1996 Tracker 4 door when I got the opportunity to pick up a built Trailslayer at a price I couldn't refuse, so now I'm selling my Tracker (affectionately dubbed the "Tortus"). This little truck is a blast to drive, whether it is around town or out on the trails. Fuel mileage varies from 28 on the freeway to 20 on rock crawling trails. I've had it on some long trails down into the Arizona strip and averaged over 24 mgg.

The chassis has 185,000 miles on it, but the engine, trans, and tcase have all been swapped out with lower mileage units. The engine is from a 1998 and runs great. It has less than 1 quart of oil consumption between 3,000 mi oil changes. No exhaust smoke or leaking of any fluids. The belts, plugs, and thermostat have been replaced within the last 4,000 miles. I replaced the transmission with an inspected used trans from Hawk Suzuki parts. I put the 4.24:1 Rockmonster gears in the tcase less than 1,000 miles ago. I installed the Sky Mfg. 2" strut and coil spacer lift less than 2,000 miles ago, and replaced the shocks and struts with lifetime guaranteed Sensomatics from NAPA at the time of the lift. I put in camber adjustment bolts when I did the lift. I had the air conditioning inspected and refilled last summer and it works fine. The wheels are alloy baja classics with no cracks or significant scratches. Tires are 30x9.50x15 BFG All Terrain KO's with about 30% wear left. The Tracker passed inspection with no problems last august when I purchased it. I replaced the battery with a new Costco (Kirkland) 5 year battery a few months ago. It has manual hubs that work great. When I replaced the tranny I inspected the clutch, and it is in very good condition.

The interior is original, and has only one small tear in the usual spot on the side of the driver's seat. Factory stereo FM Radio works fine and I replaced all four speakers. The body is fairly straight, with just a few door dings and dent in the back passenger fender by the fuel door. Paint is typical for this color and year, with a lot of clear coat hazing. There are 4 spots with where some surface rust showing through the paint. No rot-through. The frame, crossmembers, and floorboards are all good and solid.

Edit:  I had a noise coming from the front end and just installed rebuilt axles from NAPA today.  While I was working on it, I pulled the front diff and inspected all the gears.  They look great!  gm

I just bought a set of new Trail Tough sliders that I haven't installed yet.

I am pretty flexible on my pricing, based on how the buyer wants to configure the truck:

Truck with rockmonster 4.24:1 tcase and installed Trail Tough rocker sliders = $2,300

Truck with stock tcase and no rocker protection = $1,500.

So, basically I'm selling the Rockmonster case for $525 installed and the Trail Tough sliders installed for $275. If someone wants the sliders cash and carry, I'll sell them for $250.

I am located in St. George, Utah

Actually, I received darnold's email first... BUT... I am waiting to decide on parting out the tcase until April 4th.  At that time, I'll go down the list and see what the interest is then.  Sorry, but it is a lot of extra work for me to pull this Tcase and put a stock one in before Zukifari while I am busting my butt to get my Sidkick prepared before then also.   I'll notify all the respondants for just the tcase on the 4th, or if the Tracker sells with the case installed befoere that.

Sorry for any miscommunication on my part.   :-[

Sale is pending on the Tracker with the Rockmonster gears included.  It should be out of here tomorrow.

The new Trail Tough sliders are still for sale.
