hey all just wanted to say hey! got my very first zuki this last christmas i got a 87 sammy 93k no rust ( sept unviewable areas) for $900 . did my first modification to it about amonth ago which was to cut the door hinges to make removeable. man wear my hands shaking. also added some racing seats for comfort. i did have a few questions (which is why most ppl sign up for sites like this). was woundering why manual hubs seem to be more sought out then auto hubs. i have a set of both but have manual on atm.  also been trying to figure out what the best lift is for me i want to be able to fit 30" tires and make it for semi-off roading. what would ppl suggest? RRO has a 3" buget lift that seems to be very nice (3" springs, drop pitman, full poly urethane bushings) that should fit my budget but any insight would be great! thanks in advance for reading this post and for responces! will post pics soon as i can.

I would say forget the springs and look into a SPOA (Spring Perch Over Axle) Conversion and do it that way. You could easily get 4" for half the price of springs, learn a little, and it is very effective! Then when you want to go to 7", which you will after your first time wheeling, slap on the 3" springs for a total of 7", which if I remember right is the **Magic** number for 33's  !!!!

had a 92 tracker i got for free sold it for $900 and bought the sammy for $900. trackers are an ok ride but it had to many problems. the sammy has a few that i worked out (new M/C and porportioning valve) and is gtg now.
its hard to learn stuff just online i like doing stuff first hand. there is only 1 person i know that wheels a sammy and he bought his already SPOA. so no help from him on that. anyone know of a shop for sammys near asheville, NC by chance that i could get help welding up my spoa kit?

Welcome  to the board !! These guys will help you do anything you are willing to put a wrench to.  As for welding perches on top of your axles...Calmini has a completely bolt on spoa and it is worth every penney. We have all seen unsafe and poorly done home made spoa jobs. And there ares some home made set ups that that  work as well as store bought   If you will not be doing really hard core stuff Calmini also has a bolt under lift set up with shackle reverse ( makes Samis track better  and lessens bump steer ) There are lots of Sami parts out there these days. Most of the venders have good kits. Just a mater of money and mechanical aptitude. See you on the trail...

The manual  hubs tend to be stronger and with manual your front drive line won't be turning when you are in 2wd. The best kit I've found to run 30's is the Old Man Emu. It rides better than stock and won't have the negative handling effects that SPOA will.
