Tire's won't fit
« on: March 25, 2004, 11:58:20 AM »
Hey I went to discount tire today and was gonna get 31 10.5 on the black rockcrawler rims I had ordered from spidertrax. They are 2.75 in back spacing. So they mount one tire on the front, and told me it was a no go. The tires rubbed pretty bad on the back of the front fender when I turned. I had posted a couple of time on this thought and was told by several people that it would be tight but doable. I already have the three inch calmini body lift. So where do I start now. Trim or wait till I get the three inch suspension lift.
95' Kick with a 3 in. body lift and plenty more to come!

Get out the hammer and cutoff tool and make room for them. :)

I managed to squeeze 33x12.5 on 4" backspaced wheels on my Tracker with the 3" body lift with a bit of cutting and hammering.

Just get the tires one and get a Sawzall and trim the fender all the way back to the floorboard. I had a Off-Road shop flat out refuse to put them on caused they rubbed but I told them to or I wouldn't buy them (after they were already mounted&balanced).
Long story short.
They rubbed a little all the way home.
Trimmed the fenders.
No problem now.

I didn't "trim" the fenders, really, I took a BFH, and HAMMERED the sheet metal back - just sort of rolled it to the inside.  I had some rubbing issues, even WITH the 3 inch body plus 3 inch suspension lift.
