How did you check the refridgerant? The only way is to evac the system and measure the amount of refrigerant in the system. It only has to be down about half the R134A and the system will not turn on.

I was also thinking of the pressure switch, could be that too :'(
Where is that? Theres a can up front by the condenser with a switch/two wire connector. I'm thinking this might be it? If I can jump the switch the compressor should engage, but I must know the location. theres 60psi in the system, that will provide around 50-55F. Once located, I should be able to re and re the switch without any trouble.
