my ac is not working
I checked refrigerant and it's fine. it's a control problem.
Here's where you all come in, would anyone know where the ac relay is located on a 99 Grand v6.
I have power to all the switches so it must be the relay right?

If no idea of location, maybe a wiring schematic? I definitely could use the help with this.

   i believe it is under the hood to the passenger side of the engine compartment.there are several relays together in a fuse box type arrangement.it should be labeled as ac on the cover.

How did you check the refridgerant? The only way is to evac the system and measure the amount of refrigerant in the system. It only has to be down about half the R134A and the system will not turn on.

Bingo! Great thanks for the tips, I checked the only fuse box on the passenger side but nothing labeled ac
I was also thinking of the pressure switch, could be that too  :'(
Where is that? Theres a can up front by the condenser with a switch/two wire connector. I'm thinking this might be it? If I can jump the switch the compressor should engage, but I must know the location. theres 60psi in the system, that will provide around 50-55F. Once located, I should be able to re and re the switch without any trouble.
I wish I had access to a shop manual ,
oh well,  keeps the mind healthy

This isn't DIRECT help... but...

I was looking into putting A/C into my Sami once. They're basically all the same systems in all vehicles, so look up A/C and HVAC in google. You'll find generic diagrams of how they work. That could help you figure out what bits you're looking at where.


And - as far as that relay goes, do you hear a "click" and a rev-down / up of the engine every couple min? If you hear the click, that's the relay, and it's working.

Even a low system will show up to 40 psi in the low pressure line just when it is not running. If you have a pressure gauge and you can jump the pressure switch that will give you a better idea of how much of a charge is in the system.

When you turn the AC on are you getting power to the pump, to turn it on?  Might as well start there.

It was my intention to trouble shoot the system from the get go. I've heard a few suggestions and I wanted to try them. As far as hearing the relay click, kind of hard, considering I don't know the location? The passenger side inner fender is probably a good start. Jumping a pressure switch/hearing for a click is all good and easy, provided I know where they are generally located.
This is the real problem for me. As I mentioned earlier there's only one type of switch I've located up front by the condenser and I'm going to jump it tonight and see what happens. Its far easier to reach this than the clutch wire for now. After that, the relay. Pressure switch I would think is the interlock for the compressor. Theres pressure soooo...... lets see if I can narrow it down.

Found it ,  a seized fan. Blew the fuse, 25a located passenger inner fender in front of battery attached to the relay marked ac.
Got to replace electric fan and I'll be freezing again
It's a good feeling.

Well turns out not really at first.

There was not one in all the surrounding areas, all were back ordered. We will let you know when they come in sir? That's all I heard from all the parts suppliers and dealers.
It's so hot I wouldn't take no for an answer. I was willing to pay top buck from the dealer, $370 there were none to be.
Enough was enough, took the search into my own hands, bingo E BAY. $200 to my door.
