Muffler for the V6
« on: January 08, 2007, 05:19:26 PM »
It's time to start thinking about replacing the stock 4-cyl exhaust that I'm still forcing the 2.7 to exhale through.

Since I've not had knobbies for a while now, I've rather learned to enjoy the quiet ride.  Nice to have reasonable conversations and hear tunes without my ears bleeding.  I could go for a bit of an increase, but I'm willing to sacrifice a couple HPs for a handful of fewer dBs.

As parameters...

In the past, I ran a Cherry Bomb in an X-11 with a 2.8 V6, so probably a similar result would be had from the 2.7 with similar power band.  That would be too loud for me now.
I ran Flowmasters in my Corvette and thought they were fine, if a little boomy at some RPMs.
I do NOT want to sound like those anemic ricer tuners.  Period.  The truck is a total sleeper right now and I'd like to keep it that way.

So, recommendations?

(I'd REALLY like to go with an STS-style remote turbo in lieu of a muffler, but can't for the life of me figure out where I'd put the intake.  There just isn't much room back there in the short-wheelbase trucks, and it would have to have a reasonably high inlet.  So, forget that for now.)

'03 ZR2 2dr Tracker, '02 XL-7 drivetrain and electrcs
XL-7 front coils
1.5" rear coil spacers
Monroe 32316 shocks w/2" extenders
235/70-16 Bridgestone Destination A/Ts on stock XL-7 Alloys RRO Rock Rails (Presently removed, as they rusted to all hell; all the bolts were rusted to dust.  Real nice, RRO...) http://www.trivia-nights.com

Just put a Turbo on it!  Not too loud, but alot nicer than the stock.

I plan on putting dual pea-shooters on mine, with similar diameter as the Sammy stock exhaust.

Mine's a 2000, so I only have 2 O2 sensors, one for each header, so I shouldn't have a problme and the 'puter should notice anything different.
