I called the local Ziebart to price Rhinolining the inside of my Tracker. They said if I brought it to them with just the drivers seat and seat belt it would cost about $500 cause it's alot of prep work.

Truck beds are only $300-400

Do you guys/gals think I should strip the interior and go down for a "real" estamate so they could look at it? Or try to find somewhere else?

I'd do it myself but I don't have a garage to work in.

i wil be doing it all my self when i get my new tub.  i will also be doing all of the under side of the tub.  if you do it yourself it should only cost mabey 200 bucks.  and thats a high estamate.

I have had it in my Sammi for about a year and there are no signs of wear at all. Save yourself some money and do it yourself. All you'll need is to prep the interior and you will need a compressor to spray it in. Heck, it even somes with a spray gun!!

Where are you located?  A friend of mine does bedliners on the side.  He's in the Kent area of WA.

I don't know where to start for the prep work I heard that you have to sand everything you want lined and wipe it down with Xylene(sp) and also don't want to get caught in the rain either. I don't have a compressor either.

ok, i hope this helps...  i just got done doing the inside of my tracker last week.  look around and check prices.  i found the roll on kit of herkliner at Manards for $68 w/ a $20 rebate!  it included a "sand pad"  which was a green scratch pad.  lame.  so i removed the carpet, center console, seats and front heater vents that run under the carpet to the rear. i then got out the 60 grit and worked it over real good.  whipe it down real good, use a $3 can of spray air to get the corners.  then wipe it real good with some wax remover, let it dry tape every thing off with 3" wide tape.  then roll it, and if your ganna do other areas have them ready to go and do the inside first and dont use over 1/2 the gallon.  oh, and decide how your are going to handle the inside door jams, and maybe remove the moulding around the bottom.  anyway, then wait about 8 hrs and do it again.  wait about 2 hrs and remove the tape while the liner is still flexable.  the fumes are BAD.  but it the forcast will give you 3 days with no rain and you will be fine.
i love how mine looks, but, remember the stuff IS tough, and rough.  like i said i hope that helps.  ps. the spray (in a can) stuff is alot smoother, thinner and doent hold very well and at about $8 a can, the gallon of roller is much better deal.  it would take about 6 or 10 cans to get the same thickness.  i know i used it too.

OK I just got back from Wally World and looked at the Dupli-color roll on bedliner. $40 for I think a gallon. and $10 for the roller kit.

Is the dupli-color stuff good?

I'm gonna keep looking around at Lowe's and Home Depot and also the car parts stores to get some more prices on other kinds too.

I could start tearing into the interior anyday(since we take her car to work)  but can only the bedliner on the weekend.(only time i have 8hrs to do nothing)
And every dang weekend it seems to call for a "chance" of showers. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.

I've had a few friends use the roll on stuff.  It hasn't lasted in any of their rigs.  It wears out under your feet and other high traffic areas.  If it was me, I would do the spray on kind.  They do all the work, and most of the time they will garentee it to last.  You just need to find a place with a resonable price.

well i am not going to argue that since i have not had mine long but it feals pretty tough,  i think it depends on the kind.  the Hurc stuff has rubber particles in it, which will prob wear out in the long run.

also i forgot to mention, in my rig there were some thin pads under the carpet.  these i believe are for sound deadening.  the ones in the back broke apart so i removed them,  the ones in the front were not too bad so i glued them down and just hurced over them, can hardly tell and put down a good floor mat any way.  and remove the rubber drain holes too.

Well I just pulled my carpet out and found NO rust that I could see.   And also seen that there is some pretty thick sound deadner pads(like 1/4-1/2 in thick. Don't have a tape measure handy) I think I'm gonna leave them there and maybe add somemore where it isn't at.

My neighbor said to just get the spraycan stuff since I'm just gonna put the carpet back over it.

The hurcaliner is pretty good but you have to do hours of prep work to make it stick good. The duplicolor is crap. The spray on ones are definatley best but, also the most exspensive.

But I can tell you that there is alot of wires going everywhere!!! That and that the little plastic clips holding the inner fender liners on go through the rear wheelwells. I'm missing a couple of mine and now there is dirt and mud on the inside of the fenders I'll have to get some more clips soon.



Do you think I could wash the inside of the fenders safely with a hose? Like would it hold the water in the bottom or not? Or just clean by hand with a towel?

Inbetween the outer fender and the "speakerwall" is what I need to wash.

Little trick, I'd wait till it's dark outside. Take a light and shine it from inside out, or outside in. Look inside the panel for the light. This will tell you where the 'holes' are and if it's a good idea to put water on the inside.
Most newer vehicles have sheetmetal strength. Meaning that panels override other panels. At these points, spot welds and silicon are done to 'seal' the panels together. In time, if the seal was good in the first place, the seal will break down and collect moisture and dirt. This is why most cars get rust in areas where there is no way rust should be there. Take a look at the 80-90's Ford trucks. Most to all have rust just past the door in the cab. This is due to the water getting between the panels.
With the light trick, you find those un-sealed areas.

In my Bronco which I've herculined, I've drilled holes in that area behind the seat belt and moved my speaker higher. I've also drilled in the cavity under the door sill. I think the newer Suzuki's have the same thing under the door sill. I know the Sami's do. Great place to collect water and silt to rust from inside out.
