Auto starting in Drive

hey, My grandpas 97 tracker is starting in Drive for some reason.  Are there any wires or plugs that could cause this?

Sounds like the nuetral safety switch is out of adjustment or defective

do you know where it is located?

It's on the passenger side of the tranny just above the pan, you will see the cable from the shifter hooked to it
