That should not be to hard to do, For me the hardest part would be changing out the pedal assembly, I hate that.

You're gonna need a manual ECU... The auto ECU won't work. Maybe, I'm not sure, the wiring harness changes slightly too. As I said, I'm not sure on the last one, but the ECU... that's a sure bet.

i think the only problem u would probably have with not swaping the ecu is a check engine light but i dont think u can swap manual to auto just auto to manual

I believe a standard will work with a auto ECU but a auto won't work with a standard.......maybe vise/versa don't know about a swithch...
Some of the dumbest people I know seem to know everything.........Funny about that!

I've done this swap before. GET A DIFFERENT TRUCK! DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME OR ANYWHERE ELSE! It is an absolute nightmare to try to swap from a manual to an auto or maual to an auto. The transmission tunnel is actually different where the shifter location is. The wiring and ECU are totally different. The pedal assembly is the only easy part of the entire ordeal. I would heavily recommend swapping vehicles with someone versus attempting this.

The transmission tunnel is actually different where the shifter location is.

The tunnel was identical for me ('03 5-speed Tracker vs '02 automatic XL-7).

Regarding the swap, I agree.  If you don't have an entire donor vehicle, don't even think about it any longer.  Put it out of your mind.  Sell what you've got and get what you want.

Jeff, if you lived closer your idea is tempting. I'd like to have a manual kick also.
