Idle surge kinda new to Zuki's but not to Idle surge help
« on: December 04, 2006, 09:44:39 PM »
Hey i just got my 1992 sidekick 1.6 and it has a little problem with idle surge it only seems to do it if either one i dont let it warm up or if its cold as shiet. I have had many DSM's and they have the same problem sometimes. Its either throttle body, ECU or a number of vacc leaks. Could these be the same problem? Thanks for the help guys

Yeah, its a DSM ECU. Some of the early models have an intake heater but I've never seen one.

Could be a coolant sensor, vacuum leak, bad ground, the wax pellet thing in the throttle body. If you don't have an FSM then you can download one from

http:suzukiinfo.com

Then follow the diagnostics.

Mine does that when I turn on the headlights or heater, so it is probably something electrical. the thing I find odd is that the off road lights wont make it do it, but they are wired directly to the battery.
Runnin' it stock with 225/75R15s and an unmodified 8valve TBI motor (I need a doug thoroley header and a cam) (more power) (1.6 liters of madness) (vroom + sewing machine sounds)
