I wheel an auto on 31 with the 5.125 gears.  It was a dog with the stock 4.62s.  It would hardly pull itself up a hill.  But its fine with the 5.12s.  Turns some high RPMs at highway speeds, but on the trail, auto is the way to go.

i have an auto with 31's and 4.62 r&p, and it does ok, but im waiting until i can get new gears. i think 5.62's should help a lot.

if you are planning on doing alot of highway driving the auto sucks, other than that i love mine, i had a 92 auto with 30" tires and 5.125 gears.

the gears make a huge difference over stock with the larger tires.
imho i  think 31" tires auto and 5.125's is the way to go.
