brakes, rear...how to adjust emergency brakes?

Hey all,

Where's the best source to get brake parts?  I just took apart my rear brakes and found that the passenger side was locked up.  The adjuster was so tight that I couldn't get the drum off w/o beating it off and destroying the hardware.  The shoew were ground into the drum.

Needless to say, I need all new parts.  The driver's side looks normal.  Why would this happen in such an uneven way?  The emergency brake handle was hard as a rock, I could barely move it.

I called Pep Boys, Auto Zone, and NAPA.  They all have to special order parts (5-7 B-days) and prices varied between 24.60 -149.95 for ONE drum...doesn't seem right.

Any suggestions?

Check the cables, you might have one seized.

Hawk's Strictly Suzuki 888 SAMURAI for the emergency brake cable assembly used and possibly OEM NOS, too.

Tell them Ack sends you  ;)

Alternatively:

Your local Pick-N-Pull may have drums.  It depends on whether you have a Samurai or a TracKick.  Don't get a cable assembly there. You'll probably end up destroying it in the process of removing it.
