Carb Removal Tips
« on: January 11, 2012, 08:14:01 AM »
I am removing the carb on my 87? (newer Japan motor). It looks like a tight fit getting at the four nuts holding down the carb. I already have the new carb and will have some help from another Sami owner but does anyone know of a link or some advice on getting the carb off?

I  found some topics on the site but not clear enough on just getting the thing off.

I will listen to any advice.

I cut a 12mm wrench down so it was shorter to fit the open end in easier on the nuts. I think it is probably about 3 1/2" long. Then just flip the wrench over to get the angle better to fit the nut. Should come off easy then, takes me about 30 min. to change one out. Once you start it's easier than it looks.I don't know of any links showing this. Hope this helps you.

i unscrew the secondary pot to access the inside front nut.
let it flop forward, put one screw back in after the nut's been removed- just to hold it in place....
i have a nice stubby 12mm also.

Got it out and back in last night! Works great. Needed help but it took about three hours all said and done. It is like a "new" Samurai! :)
