if its anything like my lock right locker, they click when going around turns unless you are on the gas, then its locked up, sometimes its louder than other times.

how do you like it other than that?

Yes, a Detroit locker will always "ratchet" and make a click click click sound when you turn corners unless your on the gas. The lockright in my tracker doesn't make noise  turning corners unless its my drivetrain slapping around.  The Detroit is very nice and dependable, good locker! ;D

i can't wait till winter  ;D

i just took it out on the pavment today and when im driving down the road and let off the gas it makes a clickin nosie too.  is that also normal?  i think the detroit is louder then the lockrite but i have heard that the detroit is made of a stronger metal and the lockrite so i guess i will sacrifice comfort for strength.  ;)

Heheh.... you guys wouldn't know how to act if they actually made a "Detroit" locker for these trucks, instead of the lockwrong style of ratchet abominations........

Sorry, I know they work, but from someone used to being able to buy a real "Detroit" locker, it's hard to hear one of these things called a "Detroit Locker"

I know they will never make a true Detroit for the Tracker... I can only dream....

well, it is a detroit locker for a samuri in a sidekick case with sami sidegears.

But i know what you mean, i don't think there would be a point im making a "real" detroit because the axleshafts will break before the detroits they make now would break.  IMO

I am not talking strength, I am talking method of operation...  clicking, locking, unlocking, driveline windup, banging, darting in traffic, unpredictability.. these just don't apply to a "real"  Detroit locker..

Just looking at the way these work makes me uneasy...  the side gears don't even "fit" the teeth on the locker, it just looks "rigged" to me.

I am not arguing that they work, and when set up properly you get very little of the aggravating behavior I have mentioned...  but the physics of the two aren't even in the same ballpark.

X2...it's all in the shiming. But you really have to work at it sometimes to get a good result.
