Engine Swap
«
on:
December 07, 2011, 07:57:25 AM »
I have a 1996 geo tracker with a good motor, and ac. no transmission. Would like to put motor, ac and power steering from it in a 1988 Suzuki samurai. What all does this involve? What else will I have to have?

As engine swaps go, this is a simple one - there are kits available which include the necessary adapter plate & mounts. You are going to have to make a few choices, which may be dictated by the law where you are - for example - are you going to swap the EFI over or use a carb?
Either search this forum or use google, you'll find the details.

Can I use the ac and power steering off of the geo tracker?

Also do I have to use the transmission from the geo, because there is no transmission.

No, you use the Samurai transmission. Yes, you can use the AC compressor and PS from the Tracker. The Samurai will need to have at least 3" of lift to clear the Sidekick oil pan. You can modify that Samurai pan, but it is a pain with the OBD-II crank position sensor.
I would call Trail Tough and they will set you up with everything you need.

The 1600 16-valve is a great swap into a Samurai. The best engine swap IMHO.
