OK! - We've made a couple of changes.
« on: May 15, 2009, 09:33:54 AM »
Hello enthusiasts!

In order to make the forum run a bit smoother, we have made a couple of changes. First, we have made a sub-forum to this section for common questions and problems or a FAQ section if you'd prefer. Once there, you can see that there is a topic index that we will update as we can to help build a fast index for finding answers. If you happen to have time, please feel free to tack on your suggestions to the bottom of that thread and we'll update the index from your suggestions too!

Secondly, we moved the DIY section to be a sub-forum of this section. It seems to make sense that this goes here. Please remember the DIY section is for one to document their built, tip, or trick to help us all out. It's not for starting a discussion in search of answers. You are the expert in the DIY section helping others modify and improve their vehicles.

As always, this section is for ANY Suzuki discussion both technical and non-technical. If you're new and you want to introduce yourself, please do it here.

Thank you, Eric

Nice,  FAQ section will come in handy. :D  May I suggest a "cheap lift/fender trimming" section?

x2 on that, should be very helpful. Not necessarily 'cheap' lift, but a lift options section ranging from cheap & easy (spring spacers &/or short body lift) to wild & gfg rockcrawler like the sick low range kit & everything between. Just that it would be good to show a lot of the options in one place.
Also be good to move Jeremiahs' locker post to the new faq section, maybe as a sticky with others to follow?:

On another subject why don't you bring the Gen 2 1999-2005 forum up next to the Suzuki forum the title's of the two forums overlap  they both discuss Vitara and Grand Vitara ? Or better yet put all the Suzuki vehicle forms together.   TShaw

Still no thoughts on seperating the Sami stuff from the track/kick stuff?

Sorry if I had mislead by some statement in the past but separating the Sidekick / Tracker from the SJ / Samurai material won't happen by design. All of the early model Suzuki vehicles are to be discussed in this main forum. I look at more as more of a 'task oriented' approach. The vehicles that are getting modified, are no longer in production, and are being used extensively on the trails are the ones that are in this section of the forum. As an example, I forsee a time when the 2nd generation Vitara or J2 models will be moved into this area. It's more of what the people are doing with the vehicle vs. what the vehicle is. I believe we can all glean tips and tricks off of each other. The SJ guys from the J1 guys and vice versa. That's why the two groups are together. As for finding specific information, that is what the search and the new FAQ section are for.

To continue along this train of thought... For me it would make more sense to have separations like "rock crawling Suzuki" as a forum and "street tuner Suzuki" as a different forum.

Hope this helps explain.

Thank you,  -Eric

There's too much cross-over between Samurai & Kicks to parse them out. Trackers are basically Samurais with updated styling & parts - which is why so many of them cross over... gears, heads, intake, exhaust, hubs........

I own a Tracker but I enjoy reading about the Sami stuff just the same.  Plus if you wrote a script to parse out posts based on key words you would have issues.  Any time someone made a post for one type and threw in the old "is this swapable the X one?", it could throw in he wrong parse bucket.  Plus a whole lot of other neat little issues.

I enjoy them both even though I only own one and I hope they stay in the same catagory.
