After market front axle's
« on: April 02, 2008, 07:53:22 PM »
Im looking to run a set of aftermarket axle's/birf's in the front of my buggy and am wondering what brand is the best to go with... Ive read alot of mixed reviews on each of the different brands and still cant really decide.. so far the spidertrax chromoly set seems to have the best reviews... that or the newfields by roadless gear,, Ive also looked at the option of running calmini shafts and birf rings...

Im doing a 5.12 tracker r/p swap in my buggy.. its super light weight and im running 33X10.5 boggers on it, heres a pic of the rear almost done

Sj410 Full exo, Locked, race buckets, 5 point

I would go with the chromoly/newfields before the Calmini setup.  Simply because they offer a warranty so if you break it, you get one pair back free.  :)

Also consider installing a bumpstop behind the skinny pedal... :P

If it is an actual SJ-410, the axles will not work for you.  A swap over to Samurai/SJ-413 axles is needed.

yea im in the middle of putting 86 sami axles under it right now... keeping it sprung under,, which brings up another question.. what do you guys normally do for steering when u move the axle forward a couple inches while staying SUA ?.. the drag link hits the tie rod even moving it forward 1"

You got a link to those axles?  I've never seen them on there.

Hmmm... if there is room you might want to swap to half of a high steer setup.  That is what I'm running, but I have a SPOA.

I have a set of TT double toughs, except I have the upgraded 300M CTM inner shafts.  From what I can tell, the Birf is a Newfield, with a pretty coating on it.

They WERE on ebay.  Keep looking, more might be listed soon.
