Trackick R&P gears
« on: June 19, 2009, 06:45:52 PM »
I'm trying to get infor for my tracker buildup.  I am planning on running a RR 4.5" kit with 31" tires.  I'm pretty sure that I will have a noticable power loss.  I want to get some lower gears, but the only place I found was calmini with 5.83's.  Those would work fine, but their site says the gears are temporarily discontinued.  Does anyone know any other vendors selling gears for a tracker/sidekick?  I checked with randy's r&p, superior gear, and richmond gear, and got nothing.  Thanks in advance.

this is what i had to do. I have the 5.125 gears in the axles(could go with the 4.62 for more wheel spin) then i got the 4.25:1 reduction kit for the tcase. In 4lo and trans in drive i get 15mph at 4000 rpm's. thats why i said you could go with the 4.62 gears in the axles. would get more tire spin. I got the tcase kit at lowrangeoffroad.com. there around $700 though. you will also have to modifiy the tcase a little for the gears to fix in the case but isnt that bad. as for the 5.83 gears that has been like that for over a year.
95 geo tracker sas with dana 30,35 axles 3.55 gears, 33 tsl's, 3 and 4 link suspension. stock motor trans, tcase has 4.24:1 reduction kit.

The closest you are going to get are 5.63 gears which came stock on 1989 1.3L Suzuki Sidekicks.
These are still available from the Factory new, Petroworks lists the front R&P on their site as it fits the Samurai as well. I would contact them as they could probably get you the best price on the pair. Also there are usually a set or two listed on Car-Part.com if you want to go used. If you go that route make sure they actually know they are out of a 1.3L carbed truck.

I also agree  with cmays03 that Tcase gears are a must also.

Lastly are you sure you want to go with the RR kit? They do not actually manufacture any of the parts of that kit. it is a combination of the Old Man Emu suspension and some spring spacers and a body lift. I think if you were to shop around you might get the pieces for less than RR charges for the whole kit.

to be honest I would just make the lift yourself. atleast the body lift the suspension is a little difficult but can be done.
