Hoping for some help.
« on: June 20, 2011, 09:42:01 PM »
First off this site is awesome. Next thing is I just got me a 89 soft top Sidekick and while I like the idea of a soft top up here where I live it is warm enough for this oh about 4 months a year. So I am looking for a hard top for it and am looking for everyone's opinions and suggestions. I have done a web search for tops and only come up with a few options and they are rather expensive options. Also is there other model's or years that may be compatible so maybe I might luck out and catch one on Craigs or junk yards. Also I have access to milling equipment and am looking for measurements so I can cut myself some home made suspension spacers. I would rather not have to take apart the Sidekick before I can mill the spacers so I can still drive her while I make them. Thanks is advance for any info.

Hello, and Where is Here?   You could take you rig to an upholstery shop and have the add some high density foam and a breathable head liner to what you have or maybe find some thinsulate in stead of the foam if you can find some, I think 3-m makes it.

I made my own, "Soft Top Headliner" out of a "K-Mart" Leopard Print blanket.
Folded it over to center, sewed it together, cut some slots for the Velcro strips by the front doors, sewed around these cuts,
added some "Jean Snaps" to hold it on the soft top "Brow Strip", and the rest gets "pinched" in place by the targa bar and the rear top hoop. (If you want I can tear it down to get pics; the top is on, we are having a MONSOON SEASON here !!!)

Hey....Hey... easy there guys.........A sewing machine.......It's a MACHINE.... SO IT"S STILL MANLY !!

I live in North East Washington State about 50 Miles from the Canadian border. Those are both good ideas modifying the top I do have to just insulate it and make do with what I have.
