I NEED TO SWAP MY LATE MODEL 5SPD TRACKER FOR AN AUTOMATIC!
« on: January 16, 2006, 02:09:44 PM »
I'm in Northern New Jersey and have a 2000 2dr Conv. Tracker 4x4 with a 2.0L and 5spd and around 90,000 miles.  Its in great shape and the only blemish is the missing emblem on the grill.  My wife can't drive stick and I need to get an automatic.  Everything works and the truck is solid and tight as any 5 year old truck.  Also, its never been wheeled.   I basicly just want something in the same condition as mine.

I hate to give up the 5spd, but its gotta go.  I'm just curious if anyone has a comparable truck with an automatic that would like to work out a swap.  I'm not apposed to a hard top, just needs to be a solid running 4x4 w/ 4cylinder.

why not teach your wife to drive stick?  Zuki's are amoung the easiest to learn on   ;)  And you get to keep it.

yea, seriously, teach her to drive stick, once she learns how she probably won't want to drive an auto ever again.

You guys obviously don't know my wife.  I tried teaching her stick twice while we were dating, in my sammy (when it was stock) and in a jeep I had previously.  I she really doesn't get it...AT ALL.  All I'd end up doing is burning up a perfectly good clutch.  On top of that, she's somewhat afraid of driving after a head on collision (No, not her fault) and doesn't want any added stress while driving.  So, since everyone else here loves manual transmissions...who's got an auto and wants mine? ;D

I can see why you are selling it, but I'd give her another chance maybe.. It took me a while to learn stick but I'm not buying anything with an auto ever.  Even if she doesn't get it at all, another try couldn't hurt much.

I definately see your point and if I find anyone with something similar with an auto I will let you know

Unfortunately, I think you'll only get deals like mine....

a '93 1.6 16v 4-speed automatic Sidekick JLX 4x4 4 door with 90,000 miles.  Rebuilt engine, rebooted CV joints, converted to manual hubs,  21 MPG, runs like a top, new 205 tires, very clean Maroon (dark Red) body -- NO rust, every imaginable accessory except cruise (& that's because the aftermarket AudioVox cruise unit is broken).

Available wayyy the heck out in Kansas City, MO
