Intake Manifolds & carb setups
« on: September 27, 2006, 05:38:51 PM »
Will the 1.3L intake fit on a 1.6L?  If the 1.3L intake will fit, is it a certain year?  I would like to get a carb setup on my drag Tracker -- any ideas??  I would really like to have a 4bbl setup.  Even a way to set up a twin TBI would be better than what I have now.  IDEAS??

Yes, the 1.3 carburated samurai intakes will fit on the 1.6 8-valve engine. Then, you can get a weber carb such as a 32/36 or bigger w/an adapter to bolt to that intake. A good source of Webers is Hawk Strictly Suzuki. Be careful on how much carb you put on. If you run the flow numbers, 350 cfm would optimistic at 8500 rpm or at least that is the numbers we calculated to when we were doing the circle track racing.

The 1.3 intake will fit on but it will probably be very restrictive. The port sizes are a fair bit smaller and they can't be opened up fully because there is a waterway running close to the edge on one side. You might be able to source a 1.6 carb intake from outside the US, that would allow you to fit a downdraught 2bl carb, possibly a dual 38 or 40 Weber. Alternatively if you know a good ally welder you could get a 1.6 TBI manifold modded.

Has anyone ever flowed a 1.6L intake?
