No bearing spin. No indication of overheat. Crank is within spec.  Bores are well within spec.

Just curious, which main bearing is it?
Does it line up near the motor mounts?
It might not be an internal stress that cracked the journal.

I would say it is not common.  IDK that I have even ever heard of a 16V cracking a journal.

#3 - yes - adjacent to motor mounts. Interesting observation...

Nooo!
That one is just fine - although I haven't put it up to see the biffs and bumps from the rocks  :o

This one is from a 4 door that I'm parting out.

A lot more common than you think. Normally located between Cylinder 1 and 2 that is a crack caused by 2 things.

#1 Not having the main cap girdle installed
#2 It did get over temped on one occasion.

FYI,
16v plenum sensors are incapable of reading steam on a C-H gauge. Yes even the Factory gauge. The needle does go up for a second during a hot condition and then immediately drops to cool. ALWAYS use a real water temp gauge and sensor with 16v. They are unforgiving when it comes to being overheated. The good news is that that crack will not affect anything, It goes no where. Does not hurt Crank and/or main journal bearings.
