Looking for Paragon storys
« on: January 04, 2005, 02:22:55 PM »

I'm interested in Paragon.  Looking for stories and or Pictures, write ups of events ect.

I've surfed all they have on the Home page.

I'd like to take the 4-dr up their for a ride soon...

I have a set of 36's and a front locker but hoping for a more soild front housing and CV's before I push my luck.   Might lock the front run the 34's and just carry spares.  I've been carrying a complete front (3rd - lockouts w/ housing), & idler around anyway.

Think I can get it thru the Black trails.  Got almost 12" O clearance at the lowest point.

Check out Gonzookin here and at http://gonzookin.tripod.com/

As for the black trails you may rethink that when you see them not to say you or the kick are up to it.  Look at the pic's on gonzookin most are from the mid-leve trails (blue 2, and 3 think that was the color)

I love playing at paragon.  Its about the only real wheeling thats less than a 3hr drive from Jersey.  Awesome place and cool people.  Give me a shout when you're going and I'll see if I can make it.  Right now my Sammy is under the knife but I'm almost always up for a paragon trip.

I've never run the black trails with my truck but my friends have.  Be ready for broken parts and body damage as you'll probably encounter both.

The mid level trails are a hoot and present plenty of challenges, especially if you skid all the bypasses.

My biggest concern would be getting up their and in the wrong group running Blues all weekned and being disapointed.  I can usually only squeeze in 2 or 3 out of state runs a year.

I'm not too concerned about breakage or damage, and as far as by passes I'll only bypass the mud if I have a choice, But once it's dirty all bets are off.   Gone Zook'n is on my list of events to make this year.  But I'd like to squeeze in a pre run if I can.   Uwharrie is 4.5 hrs,  Paragon 5.5 hrs, Tellico 10 hrs.
If I can get things lined up to go I'll post it up.  Got to get a group together or make it to the monthly guided run.  Anyone able to go on a weekday.   I work rotating shifts and only get 12 weekends a year.   For a first time I'd like to go with some one with good knowledge for the area or on a guided run.

We realy don't care if you want to swap groups as long as the group your leveing still has enough people to go around the park. We are easey going like that ;D

Don't try the black trails unless you swap out the front housing. (Kerry doesn't count, he had 2 tcases and LIKES replacing parts.) the other trails will give you lots to do,

Rattlesnake 1 +2 are good for a run, but you will take out the front end. If you are not locked in front don't even think about it.   You will just break the truck.

For real fun bring your trails bikes. You will enjoy the rocks.

Ouch!   :o

I might have to look into that,  hook up with a Jeep group and observe the Blacks while on the trials bike.  That way I could make it a quick trip cover lots O ground, and get a better understanding.   Up ride & 1/2 way back all in 1 day (Dad lives 100 miles south).

ohhh  Ahhhhh   ;) ;) ;)  Thanks for the pics.  That helps alot.
I'd like to give the comp a try, But I'd like to run the trails before I kill it.   Definatly need to make a few corrections before I commit to somthing that serious.

Housing is a must, I've got a few ideias too.  Hybrid sammy front, Hybrid, kick rear up front, Jag D-44 up front, Toyota IFS housing up front.  just got to determine which is most pratical.

I was also waiting for some more aftermarket bumpers to hit the market,  :( looks like I might need to get moving and fab that winch bumper up.

I see for TOP ZOOK CHALLENGE thier is a 33" and under rule for the stock class.  Any chance of getting an exception for 4 dr Kicks.  I'm no really concerned about winning I just want to compete.  Not really excited about bringing a smaller set of tires just for the competition.   I'd still like to do it and run the stock class course & gates  Even if I was just making an exibition run.

WHo's Green 4dr  ?    Nice Ride!!!

I`m a trailguide at Paragon and Live in Hazleton. I run a 94 Tracker with 33`s and run all the black trails. It really depends on your driving. Rattler is a good one. M-Trail and Q-Trail are cool also. Whompum is also worth checking out. Theres 4 differant sections, I made the 4th section last year. Very rocky and alot of fun. Dont know if you should listen to me though. I`m fixing my 11th front housing today.

Moab ???hrs...

Total Est. Time: 31 hours, 48 minutes Total Est. Distance: 2047.22 miles

I'm too close to the wrong ocean.   But it is on my list of things to do.

Need a big diesel & a tripple trailer with three guys driving shifts stright thru.

At 16 MPG that's 128 gallons O fuel = over $250 in just fule one way.

Amtrack should provide train service to Moab.   JUST Sto the ZOOK and GO.

Comparitive, 2002 Zuki melt was only  12 hours, 30 minutes Total Est. Distance: 728.12

It really depends on your driving.
I'm easier on the right pedal then most.  I can get by around here with a  sammy on 38's stock axles with aluminium Track Kick 5.13:1 chunks.  But around here isn't much.    The big 4dr is running an auto that also helps keep initial shock loads down.   I don't hammer stuff until it breaks.  Give it a try, make it a good show, but usually it is pick the right lines or winch.  Winch'n is usually quicker then fixing breakage and then winch'n.

Maybe when I can get a trip arranged I'll give you a call.  I would be greatful to get a tour of the place with another fellow Track Kick enthusiast.

What are your rigs specs?  1994 on 33's but what else?

Winch (size make model)    I'd think  guides get to pull lots O cable.  I'm looking at a Warn M8k

Gearing?

Locked?  Front & rear?

What tires?

Steering?  Still stock?

What lift combo?

Other then front CV's and housings what else have you broken on the Trails?

Here's a pic of my 4dr..
