Lucas oil - Fuel system cleaner
« on: January 08, 2005, 03:19:12 PM »
this stuff is awesome.  i did a full tune up to my 1995 tracker LSi about a month and a half ago and for some reason i still burned thru gas like i had a V-12 under the hood.  actually this car has been one thirsty mutha since i first bought it in 2002.  i just figured the 16valve motor must be a very fuel thristy motor since all my sammies and 8valve track/kicks have been fuel sippers before this one.

i'd drive to my sisters in Burbank from my place, which is like 45 miles.  i'd cruise along nicely at 70-75mph.  and i'd use a half tank or a little more one way.

now i know 70-75mph is not suggested "cruising" speed of the tracker.  and assume that exesessive speed may be part of the problem.  I put a k&N drop in air filter to help...it really didn't do anything.
well while  working at Suzuki HQ this past summer, i spent alot of time talking with Sam the head coroporate mechanic.  i remembered him telling me that when i do my tune up i should use a fuel system cleaner with a full tank of gas right after i do the tune-up and replace the fuel filter.
i asked him if the 3-step $50 one that Suzuki sells is the one i should use.  he said no, i should use Lucas Oil-Fuel System cleaner.  only 3 bucks and it's the best.

he's been head mechanic at Suzuki for 25 years so trust him.  problem is i forgot to get it.  so even after the tune up it still sucked gas like holy hell.  but now that i put some in about 3 weeks ago, i want to tell you zuki folks  :o  Holy CRAP!  this stuff works awesome.  now i do the same  drive to Burbank at 70-75mph and no kidding the fuel needle NEVER moves!  maybe just a hair.

Awesome stuff if you can find it at your local auto paqrts store buy it and use it immediately.  he suggested that i use it once a month to keep the inside of the 1.6 clean.
i'm sold on this stuff.  try it guys.

My personal favorite fuel cleaner is Seafoam. In the tank, in the oil, in the carb/vaccum lines, and it cleans the engine out great!

Well I'm sold, buying some today to check it out.  I've always heard that Lucas products were very good and have always come close to buying them.

Thanks for the info Jooky, I'm looking forward to trying it. :)

Oh yeah, that stuff is great, used it in my old Trooper, my wifes Escort and my Tracker, it works wonders.  In fact, my wifes car was pinging, added the stuff and a tank or so later it stopped.  Can't explain why exactly, but it ran better and everything, its a good investment.  Have fun,  Dave ;D

I went to one of my many local parts stores and couldn't find the Lucas stuff.  So I bought Pennzoil Fuel System Cleaner and I'll try it out on my next fill up.  I'll look at another parts store another day to see if I can find the Lucas stuff.

I use the lucas in all my vehicles and it works great. I work at an auto part store and it is about the cheapest fuel additive we sell but it is the best i recomend it to all my customers
