Need help with P.O.S. starter!! Please??
« on: May 06, 2008, 02:11:55 PM »
Everytime I take my trackick off road mudding the darn solinoid goes in the starter. I'm on I think, My fifth one by now. Does anyone know what other vehicle starter would interchange with the trackick starter? Or a possible solution to fix the problem I am currently having? It's getting quite expensive to go offroading at this rate. Please let me know. Thanks, Serious.

Do you have problems any other time when using the Zuki?If so I would check for a short, bad relay,or possibly starter.
If not I would try to dertimine which driving conditions are causing the problem.Water.mud,etc.

I have no other problems with it until I take it off road. I think it's the mud and water doing it. Is there any way around this problem with these? Possibly a better starter or one from a different vehicle altogether?

You should be able clean out the starter, they don't usually get damaged just blocked up. Try sealing up the bellhousing to stop the mud getting in.

First mud is the hardest on every thing on your rig, bearings, fluids, electrical, cooling, horns (mine was filled with mud from the previous owner).  So I would start by water/dust/mud proofing that area and seeing if that doesn't fix the problem.
