Before I post many thanks to Eric the Ad. and the rest of you who frequent the board. I have spent the past few days reading the many pages of previous posts and I have learned a ton. I have two questions, here is the background. I just bought a 92 tracker 4x4 from a guy who usually towed it behind his motor home. It has 90,000 on it and looks to be in good condition. I believe everything is stock with the exception of super winch hubs. The first week I got it I changed the oil, the gear oil in front and rear Dif, tranny, and transfer case. I also changed the spark plugs and they looked like they had never been changed. When I bought it the check engine light was on and the guy said he had taken it to his local mechanic to have the light checked out and his mechanic said everything looked fine and not to really worry about it. I thought I was getting a good deal so I bought it anyway. My question is should I take it to the dealer to have it checked out and fork over the money for them just looking at it? What should I rule out that could be causing the check engine light to stay on? My other question is this. I bought this vehicle for dual purpose I commute to school each day and don't have the money to do anything fancy with it, but I do like to hunt/fish/explore on theweekends off road, nothing too sketchy though as far as trails go. I will need new tires in the next 6 months. I plan on keeping the same rims, so my question is; What tires would serve me best in a dual role, get decsent gas milage, yet perform well in the nevada desert/rock? What other sized tires will also fit on the stock rims? Thanks in advance for the replies
