new to forum...have some questions about my sidekick
« on: March 28, 2007, 10:40:59 PM »
i have a 4 door sidekick.  i want to be able lift it enough to fit 30s on the stock steel rims.

i was told that lifting with ome coils would be best and that i am suppose to keep the stock struts WITHOUT extensions.  this is to save the cvs.  but i was wondering if the struts are going to blow out.  ome coils only lift 1 1/2 inch.  should i get ome struts along with it?  or more on the budget side flip the front strut mount and crown vic rear strut.

also what going to happen to the alignment.  will i need camber bolts?

this is going to go along with rro 2 inch body lift.  should clear 30s ah?

any other problems i may run into?

thanks

you should be able to clear 30's with just a 1.5 - 2" lift. ive got 31's with a 3" lift, and im going to put 32's on it without any more lift soon. go ahead and get the complete ome lift with shocks and struts. with the stock struts and the ome lift, you would need to do a strut mount flip, and you would need new shocks. you may need camber bolts, but im not 100% sure about that. anyways, welcome to the forum! hope this helps.

You should be able to clear 30s with just the body lift. If you get the OME springs then it would be best to get the OME stuts as well. You shouldn't have CV problems with those but you will get a better ride and you shouldn't need the camber bolts because the correction is built in.

I used 1 3/4 inch daystar jeep Wrangler spacers, hole sawed out in the front to 2 1/2" center.. squished the rear ones on w/o drilling. Any 4x4 store would have em $100. I got '91 Ford Crown Vic shocks, cheap monroes $40. I flipped my strut mounts with $5 in bolts. I found some 15 x 7... 3- 3/4"backspace alloy wheels and put 30x9.5 AT's on them and pounded the inside of the rear fenders some with a hammer to get side clearance when the wheels come into the wells. I love the ride, it raised me up 4 inches or so, and it's great. It wheels great, I lost only about 1 mpg the way I drive BUT it's slower up hills at interstate speeds. With the stock wheels you rub some in the front at full lock but you can adjust the steering stops if you wish. Even with my backspace I rub slightly at full lock, no biggie.

Here's the strut mount flip thread...

http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=13687.0

You can get 1,5" coil spacers for the kick at  Sky manufacturing, and boondox online or Jeep spacers at a 4x4 place. Mine are 1-3/4" actually 1 7/8" when I measured. Daystar

There are several good threads with pics when you install the spacers, do a quick search.
