90 rear seat won't tilt
« on: April 06, 2004, 01:09:13 PM »
I assume that to tilt the seat you pull the handle at the rear of the seat toward the back of the vehicle.  On my 90 I does move about 1/2 inch but the seat gives no indication of wanting to tilt.  Am I doing something wrong or is something stuck?  If it is stuck how can I fix it?  Thanks.

If you are talking about the handel behind the seat next to the floor, it releases the rear floor latch to raise the back seat out of the way. Pull the knobs on the top of the seat (close to were yur shoulder would be sitting in the seat and fold the back of the seat down (forward) then pull the handle on the floor and pull up on the back of the seat, it should allow you to flip the back of the seat up (also forward) allowing for more cargo space.

OK, I thought that you were trying to Recline it like the front seat does :P My lower latch got alot of drit and mud in it once and would not release. I took a can of penetrating oil (like WD-40) and soaked the latch. I could not see what I was doing so I just used the straw that came with the can, aimed towards the latch and sprayed away. After a couple of good soakings and a hard yank on the handle it poped loose.

I had that problem initially - to release it the first time squeeze a long screwdriver between the seat base and the inner rear wheel arch and trigger the catch open - you can then oil it easily
