Residual Pressure in Break Lines
« on: September 08, 2004, 01:39:54 AM »
Well first off I got my 16v in and its running great.  I just wanted to let you all know about a problem I ran into.  As I was driving to work yesterday I started to notice a loss of power and I could smell breaks burning.  I stopped and got out and my front breaks were locked up and smoking.  After I manage to get it home I tore apart the front breaks and to my surprise the calipers were not frozen.  After a lot of thinking and trying different things I figure out what was happening.  My rear shoes had worn to the point that the adjusters could not take up all the slack anymore.  So when I released the breaks the springs on the shoes would pull them all the way back in and in return the extra fluid would travel to the front and apply the front breaks.  I put on new shoes and all is right with the world.
