ok well i believe my clutch is going out. it sounds like the throw-out bearing is making alot of "tinking" and when i take off it feels like it is skipping and at times i have to rev up to 2500prm to take off. i have replaced the clutch before im going with the oem replacment cause i dont have any upgraded gears and 30s on my 86.

also. i replaced the starter due to grinding because it had come loose. well it still sounds like it is grinding but the fly wheel looks fine.

When you put the new clutch in did you re adjust the clutch cable

Yes I did. i made it a bit more tight because it was a bit loose and was causing it to slip

I think you have this backward.

 A too tight adjustment with no play will cause the clutch not to be released completely and cause it to slip. It will also cause the throw out bearing to be in constant contact with the pressure plate fingers, wearing out the TO bearing and wearing grooves in the clutch fingers.

Loosen the cable some so that there is some free play. The clutch pedal should depress about 1/2" before feeling pressure, assuming that the clutch pedal still has the return spring in place.

Haptown is correct, I ran into the same problem when I rebuilt my tranny. I removed the acutuator arm, backed out the adjustment nuts almost completely and then put the actuator arm back on then I had lots of room to play around with the adjustment, can take a few times backing it in and out to get it just right
