samurai t-case in my sidekick?
« on: October 20, 2003, 10:29:27 AM »
Will it bolt in? It has the 2.26 to 1 gears I'm looking for to replace the 1.8 to 1s.  The high is 1.4 to 1 instead of 1to1 which will help me and my 33 x12.5x 15

I just heard that it's a compleetely separate unit.  What gears do the newer trackers have, and do they bolt in?

Well thank god, i'm not the only one who thought about this.  It wouldn't just "bolt in"  but it would but sweet as hell.  just one more step to making the badest tracker on the plant. lol.  Of corse you would have to get new drive shafts(3), make your mounts, shifter and skid plates but after that would be able to crawl with the best of um.  Mabey a winter project?  sounds like a plan.  right after i finsh my outher plans.  lol   lata Stu

yeah, thanks....  But with those prices, its almost easier to get the calamini gears.... there has got to be a way to do this.   AUtomakers are just too universal.  Something out there has top be a bolt on/in.

How about going a different way. do any of the gears from the GV gearbox fit? What about ratios there? a lower 5th gear would be nice. The last thing I need are more UJs collecting water and muck.

The XL-7 has a 1.0 high range and a 1.653 low range, so it wont help if it does fit. And the Grand Vitara 3 door has a 1.0 high and a 1.816 low, so no help there either.
