Samurai Transfercase question
« on: May 07, 2012, 09:08:10 PM »
Does anybody know how long a typical samurai t-case will last under light abuse such mostly 2wd road use? A guy near me is selling his from a bone stock samurai that has never seen dirt with 88k miles for 200 bucks. I just don't want to buy the thing and then have it start to fall apart on me.

It should still be good.

I would guess 200K miles if the oil is changed every so often or at least clean and full of gear oil.
35 years of Samurai ownership, and I still have my very first one. :)

For 200 dollars if it runs I would still buy it.  Let alone a runner that has never seen dirt.

200 dollars is a fair price for a good T-case. Another thing to consider: Early Zuks had small flanges with 8mm bolts, while later (~'88.5+) Zuks used large flanges with 10mm bolts. Depending on the year, you may have to change flanges to fit your rig.

Drone... I'm gonna assume it is the TC since he say "from a" in the message description.

$200 is a fair price ... on occasion you will see them cheaper. I sold mine with the lever and shifter handle included. By the time it made its way to Texas from here the new owner had $115.00 in it.
I know the voices aren't real.... but they have some pretty kewl ideas!!! Tux.....  ;-)
