Shogun Tracker/Sidekick Coilover lift
« on: December 20, 2004, 04:28:00 PM »
Thought we'd finally get around to posting the pics of our 1997 4 door Tracker we finished lifting about a week ago.  This truck carries our 7" combo lift which clears 31s / 32s with no trimming.  It utilizes our 4" coilover suspension lift and 3" body.  The 4" kit includes coilovers front and springs and shocks rear, and all hardware needed.  It is completly bolt in, no cutting.  Will fit 30s suspension only, no trimming.
Lift is just out of prototype stage and into production.  There is also stage 2, coming in the new year, that has custom A arms which provide 1" more lift and relocate axle 1 inch forward.  Stage 3, late in the year, 2" more lift.  All bolt on and are upgrades from stage 1, you can add at any time.  The most common thing we hear is how nice the ride is, literally takes speed bumps better than a minivan.  Street drive is awesome, and offroad capabilities excellent.
Thought we'd let you know what's going on in the shop, will be posting pics of a black Sami build we just finished soon.  And we are finally getting around to building Pams factory half door, with a 1.6L auto, dana 44, coils, etc.  Will keep you up to date. ;)

Coilovers? :o Did you'll make a custom upper A arm for the front to use a Coilover instead of a strut? It looks great 8) How is the ride and flex?

It's a coilover strut, Zig. When you install the lift, you bolt in our coilover strut, and throw your stock spring that goes to the lower a-arm in the trash. I should point out that this also takes load off of your ball joint, extending it's life.
The ride is awsome, and flex is decent as well. We'll post up some flex pics when we do the next one, as the 4dr wasn't around long before someone bought it.(1 day to be exact)

We do not have an order form, but we can be reached at (403) 236-5888
    Thanks for the interest!<----Jay

Doesn't look very high for 7" of lift.   Also, you can only fit 30" tires on the 4" lift ???  I had 30x9.50's on my 4 door when it was stock height.  Did you get a chance to wheel the rig before you sold it?  I'm wondering how you liked the coilover setup on hills?

Yeah... it looks about like what I've seen with 2" coil spacers and a 3" body lift.

Can we get any measurement shots when you do another one?

I'm interested in the flex though, coilovers are a good idea.

I've searched on the net for a few minutes, trying to understand the coilover-strut thing. I believe I get it now, is it a strut with a coil built in ??? ??? Looks very neat Thumbs up!!

Cool, I did not know that you could use a coilover as a structural part of an IFS 8) I just thought they had coilover shocks :P

The front and rear of my Caviler is IFS/IRS
and uses a coilover strut, but these guys
would be too soft for offroad

import cars have coil over struts as upgrades. They all have the coil around the strut stock anyways.

what have you done to strengthen the strut towers? I don't think they are strong enough stock to handle the load of the vehicle since stock all(or most) is transfereed through the coil to the frame?

I will be installing one of these kits very soon(you have been talking to Al at can4x4) and would like a few more details please! I am glad to see a CDN supplier stepping up to the plate!

A strut tower brace would help to
remove the extra stress the towers
will see, the towers can use support
even without springs pushing on them,
they move around quite easily

Agreed, without some help the strut towers are rather flimsy.

The suspention lift is absolutely 4". Next one that goes in will have pics that prove! Till then, please try to keep in mind that the original post was for the purpose of gathering oppinions on the concept, and we didn't think proof of the lift size would be required. 8) Next time however, I'll post tape measure pics, and mabey even a shot of Geoff sticking his head between the tire and fenderwell! (Geoff has AT LEAST a 7-1/2" melon!) heh heh.

As for the price.....This kit is not yet in the full production stage, and still being sold as a "one off" The price of the kit will change as it develops. That's why it is best to call Geoff at the number posted above and talk to him personally about pricing.
